Add an AI provider key

Save one OpenAI or Anthropic API key locally so Koda can plan, write, and revise your app. You only need one provider—not both.

Save a key

Koda works with either OpenAI or Anthropic. Pick the provider you already use (or prefer), save that one key, and you’re ready. You do not need to configure both.

    Choose Settings in the left sidebar under Manage.

    Settings lists both providers, but you only need one. Here OpenAI is Configured and Anthropic is Not configured.

    Open either the OpenAI section or the Anthropic section—whichever you want to use—and follow its docs/console link to create an API key if needed.

    Paste the key into that provider’s field. Use the eye button only when nobody else can see your screen.

    Select Save API Key, then use Refresh on the status card to confirm it shows Configured.

Good to knowAfter you save a key, choose a model from that provider in the chat composer when you build.

Replace or remove a key

  • Paste a new key and select Save API Key to replace the current value.
  • Choose Clear Key to remove that provider from Koda.
  • Optional: if you later want to switch providers, save a key for the other one and pick one of its models in the chat composer. You still only need one active provider to use Koda.

Good to knowAPI usage is billed by the provider under your account. Never share your key in chat, screenshots, or support messages.
